History

Kids Future Kids began in 1975 and until 2002 held the name of The Children's Foundation of South Australia (CFSA).

Throughout this time a large number of camps and day activities were held, with the goal of these activities being to assist disadvantaged children aged 6 to 16 years old, through the support of volunteer leaders.

The Children’s Foundation received sponsorship from the South Australian Community Recreation Association (SACRA) which supported CFSA with financial assistance and office space at the St Clair Recreation Centre. However, approximately ten years ago this sponsorship was lost due to SACRA’s demise.

In 2003 the organisation felt the repercussions of the HIA Insurance crisis, as public liability for the organisation rose from $2,000 to $20,000. As a result activities were suspended whilst other options for provision of insurance were investigated. At this point the Blue Light Association (SA Police) came forward and offered to assist Kids Future kids by running our activities under the umbrella of their Public Liability Insurance.

In 2006 Kids Future Kids began a strategic partnership with Status Employment Services who became the organisation’s Founding Corporate Patron. This unique relationship is benefiting Kids Future Kids through both financial and in-kind support which includes funding the organisation’s Business Development Manager, use of office space at Status’s Welland location, as well as administration, IT and other office support.

The extent of Status’s support means that almost 100% of the donations Kids Future Kids receives goes directly to funding the camps and is not absorbed by marketing and administration costs.

The partnership between Status and Kids Future Kids has even been recognised by the Prime Ministers Awards for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships, winning the South Australian Medium Business Category Award in 2006.

Kids Future Kids continues to run recreational camps for disadvantaged kids, keeping to the core values and objectives it began with over 30 years ago. With the demand for its services continuing to grow and public support ever-increasing, Kids Future Kids future seems certain.
